We’re so thrilled with the quality and diversity of homes being built in the Ecovillage to date. Homes are predominantly being built from timber, straw bale, reverse brick veneer and hempcrete (apparently the most hempcrete homes in one suburb in the Southern Hemisphere, and soon to be the world). They’re magnificent, healthy, buildings, that are naturally warm in winter and cool in summer thanks to their incredible energy efficiency. So far, our homes are averaging only 7.4kWh a day in energy use, which is remarkable given the Perth average is over 20kWh. Once all of the solar systems are installed and the batteries are turned on, we are going to produce so much more energy than we consume.
